My Story

In 1991 at age 21, I decided to have an adventure and to emigrate to Australia.  I settled in Adelaide and experienced many new things, including the Grand Prix street circuit years, water skiing, camping and riding motorbikes in the bush!  I was fortunate enough to be introduced to the wonderful world of Pedorthics and worked with some wonderful colleagues with an interest in foot & ankle health.  I owned my own shoe shop for a while and also worked for Comfort & Fit, who imported many top quality comfort/specialist shoe brands into Australia.    I had many 'shoe fitting adventures', regularly driving long distances to run shoe clinics in more rural locations.  It was a great way to see the country and work at the same time, and I met lots of interesting people.   This included a couple of visits to Alice Springs, driving from Adelaide for over 18 hours!  In 2011 I came back, lived in Warwickshire for a few years where I started ShoeMed, and now I am living back in the UK in Kent.  Alongside working at ShoeMed Canterbury one day a week, I offer a completely unique, independent service as your personal consultant to help you find the best place to buy your shoes, any inserts you need, and even footwear modifications.

The Shoe Detective - a unique service to help you

When you have difficulty in finding shoes to fit, shopping for shoes can become a pain, rather than a pleasure.  Some of the reasons for this can be:

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Rheumatoid arthritis

  • Bunions, hammer toes

  • Swollen feet

  • Injury, accidents

  • Finding shoes for use with foot orthoses

Money can be wasted on driving miles to find a shop that might be able to help, or buying online only to have to return them all for exchange or refund.

My role is to research all the footwear brands, where they are available, which products can help you - and importantly, work out the correct size and style for your particular feet.
